Global Startup EXPO 2025 (GSE 2025) is an international conference event that, in partnership with Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, will unite the world’s leading deep tech startups, investors, collaboration-minded universities, research institutions, and corporations, along with startup support organizations, to explore innovative solutions to global-scale challenges.

Starting Friday, May 2nd, we will begin accepting applications from startups wishing to exhibit at this event. We encourage all eligible startups to apply.

About GSE 2025:

GSE 2025 is a large-scale hub event designed to leverage the globally recognized Osaka-Kansai Expo, bringing attention to deep tech startups and other ventures dedicated to solving worldwide social challenges.

Event Scale:

GSE 2025 will feature exhibition booths from 150 startups and is expected to attract 4,000 participants from around the globe.

Evaluation Criteria

For Japanese startups

  • Startups engaged in business within the deep tech sector.
  • Business activities aligned with the global challenge-solving objectives of GSE 2025.
  • Possession of services or products that can be exhibited.
  • Must aim for international expansion and collaboration.
  • Ability to exhibit and engage in business discussions at the booth throughout the two-day event.
  • Availability of staff capable of conducting business discussions in English.

For overseas startups

  • Startups engaged in business within the deep tech sector.
  • Business activities aligned with the global challenge-solving objectives of GSE 2025.
  • Possession of services or products that can be exhibited.
  • Must aim for developing business or creating new ventures through establishing a base in Japan, expanding operations in Japan, or collaborating/partnering with Japanese companies, universities, and research institutions (e.g., business alliances, technical partnerships, investments, or the establishment of joint ventures).
  • Achieving unicorn level status (valued over $1 billion)
  • Ability to exhibit and engage in business discussions at the booth throughout the two-day event.
  • Availability of staff capable of conducting business discussions in English.

Evaluation Criteria:

The evaluation will focus on the following aspects:

For Japanese startups

  • 1. Social Impact (the significance and importance of the societal issue being addressed, feasibility of the solution, attractiveness of the exhibited products/services, etc.)
  • 2. Economic Impact (competitive advantage, growth potential, achievements, etc.)
  • 3. Potential for global expansion (current organizational structure and readiness for global expansion, etc.)

For overseas startups

  • 1. Social Impact (the significance and importance of the societal issue being addressed, feasibility of the solution, attractiveness of the exhibited products/services, etc.)
  • 2. Economic Impact (competitive advantage, growth potential, achievements, etc.)
  • 3. Potential for expansion in Japan (current organizational structure and readiness for expansion in Japan, etc.)

Additional points will be awarded to companies that meet the following conditions:

For Japanese startups

  • J-Startup/J-Startup Local
  • Funding amount exceeding 10 billion yen.
  • Investment from public-private funds or VCs.
  • Based in Kansai or originating from Kansai.
  • Other notable awards.

For overseas startups

  • Notable awards

Furthermore, startups, universities, and other entities without services or products may be allowed to exhibit if they possess unique and superior technologies, subject to approval by the organizing committee.

Notification of Examination Results:

We will notify you of the results between early and mid-June 2025.

*Note: Generally, cancellations after application submission will not be accepted.

Travel and Accommodation Costs to Japan: (Venue: WASSE)

All travel and accommodation expenses to Japan are to be borne by the participants.

Intellectual Property Rights and Copyrights:

  • The intellectual property rights and copyrights related to the applications belong to the applicants. However, the content of the applications and the names and affiliations of the applicants may be publicly disclosed on web pages or other media at the discretion of the organizers.
  • Applicants are responsible for confirming and protecting their rights prior to application. The organizers and the secretariat will not be held liable for any disputes regarding rights.
  • If there is a suspicion or discovery of infringement on the intellectual property rights of others, the exhibition may be canceled.

Portrait Rights:

The ownership of photographs, videos, and records taken during this event belongs to the organizers. These materials may be published on websites, newspapers, magazines, television, etc. By participating in this event, participants agree to be photographed and to the publication of these materials.
