Global Startup EXPO 2025 (GSE 2025) is an international conference event that,
in partnership with Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, will unite the world’s leading deep tech startups,
investors, collaboration-minded universities, research institutions, and corporations,
along with startup support organizations, to explore innovative solutions to global-scale challenges.
To provide diverse and impactful sessions, GSE 2025 is inviting approximately 5 to 10 proposals from
stakeholders across the global startup ecosystem aimed at solving large-scale societal challenges.
Overview of the Call for Proposals
Themes
- Proposals addressing global challenges such as climate change, securing the stable supply of water and food, ensuring equitable access to healthcare, and securing sustainable resources management.
- Proposals focusing on advancing and strengthening ecosystems in deep-tech fields, including AI, robotics, biotechnology, and quantum computing.
Session Format
- Panel discussions featuring a moderator and a group of speakers.
- Approximately 45 minutes per session.
- Sessions will primarily be conducted in English.
Eligibility
- Stakeholders in the global startup ecosystem, both domestic and international.
Session Composition
- Approximately 1 moderator and 4 speakers.
- The moderator should be skilled in facilitating engaging and productive discussions.
- Speakers are expected to be prominent experts or leaders in their respective fields.
- International speakers are highly encouraged but not required.
- Gender diversity among speakers is encouraged but not mandatory.

Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan - Expo Messe "WASSE"
*The stage, screen, audio equipment, and other facilities will be arranged as necessary in consultation with the organizers.
Selection Process
The Organizer of Global Startup EXPO 2025 will evaluate all proposals based on the following criteria. Additional information may be requested during the review process.
Please note that inquiries regarding the review process or results will not be accepted.
Session themes will be finalized through discussions and adjustments with the organizers, based on the submitted proposals.
Evaluation Criteria
- 1. Does the session provide cutting-edge global insights to the audience?
- 2. Does the session contribute to addressing challenges or driving growth within the deep-tech ecosystem?
- 3. Is the session aligned with the overarching theme and objectives of GSE 2025?
- 4. Are the speakers influential and highly regarded in the deep-tech and startup communities?
Travel and Accommodation
Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered for up to 1 moderator and 4 speakers, in accordance with the organizers' regulations. Please note that no honorarium will be provided.
Schedule (Tentative)
- Submission Period: May 2 (Fri) to May 23 (Fri), 2025 (JST)
- Notification of Results: Early June 2025
- Coordination and Finalization: Mid-June 2025 onward
- Event Dates: September 17 (Wed) and 18 (Thu), 2025
Important Notes
Language of Sessions
Sessions will primarily be conducted in English. Simultaneous interpretation into Japanese for on-site and online sessions will be arranged by the organizers.
Online Streaming
Sessions will be accessible for on-site participation, live streaming, and on-demand viewing. Please note that session recordings may also be featured in GSE 2025 highlight videos.
Copyright and Permissions
Applicants are assumed to have obtained all necessary permissions from their organizations or related parties for the use of any materials or intellectual property. Please do not use copyrighted materials without proper authorization.
Number of Submissions
There is no limit to the number of submissions; however, each proposal must be submitted individually.
Prohibited Activities
The following are strictly prohibited during sessions:
- Explicit or implicit promotion of products or services, or recruitment activities targeting the audience.
- Defamatory speech, infringement of rights, or content that violates public order or societal norms (e.g., discriminatory remarks).
Compliance with Exposition Guidelines
In addition to the above, applicants may be required to comply with guidelines established by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition.
