We held an online meetup ahead of the GSE event!

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, GSEeds (Global Seeds) members from across the country gathered for an online meetup. Mr. Ryuhi Kanno, a venture capitalist of Kyoto University Innovation Capital Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Kyoto iCAP), gave a lecture, provided an explanation of the team and roles of Global Startup EXPO 2025, which is scheduled to take place the following week, and facilitated interactions among the team members.

Mr. Ryuhi Kanno

In the first half of the event, Mr. Kanno, who has experience both in founding a business and working for a large company, explained the significance and role of deep tech startups originating from universities and the EIR (Entrepreneur-in-Residence) system. He also talked about a wide range of topics, including international comparisons of startups and expectations for students interested in starting a business, and some challenges involved. In response, the participants actively asked questions and engaged in lively discussions about the field of deep tech.

In the second half, the secretariat explained the team formation and roles on the day of the GSE. Following the team member exchange session, positive feedback included comments such as "I was inspired by hearing very passionate stories from people of my generation," and, "Listening to the experiences of people who have worked not only in Japan but also in various countries broadened my perspective."
This meetup was a valuable opportunity for the participants, who were preparing for the GSE, to rediscover the great potential and appeal of deep tech and startups, while also boosting their motivation for future activities. As we look ahead of GSE next week, o we hope that members will play an active role as event staff and be further inspired by exchanges with people involved in deep tech from Japan and overseas, paving the way for the creation of future innovations.
