Agnieszka works at the intersection of European business, policy and innovation heading the EIC Business Acceleration Services team of the European Commission. EIC is a 10 bn € initiative supporting growth of deep-tech European startups & scaleups. Funding is accompanied with world-class coaching and acceleration services to engage the whole ecosystem. Agnieszka brings along over 15 years of experience in impact analysis, deep tech innovation funding and investing as well as acceleration services from European Institutions and private sector. She uses this experience to build evidence based acceleration services and grow next unicorns in Europe.

Chris is a Climate Tech investor at GB. Since 2019, he has worked in Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) at Mitsubishi Corporation, leading investments, global deployment of DAC projects, and co-founding NextGen a CDR buyers' club. He has shaped Japan’s DAC strategy with METI, advised global initiatives like Carbon Unbound, and spoken at COP, Climate Week NY, and more. Previously in the mineral resources sector, living in Mozambique. With global experience across Japan, Europe, Africa, and the US, he brings deep expertise in CDR and a strong commitment to climate innovation. Alan Cowen is the founder of Hume AI and a former Google researcher with a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. His research on empathic AI, spanning 40+ papers, has helped shape how we measure and simulate human emotion. Under Cowen’s leadership, Hume AI has pioneered AI models where the same intelligence generates language and voice — an essential step toward AI that understands emotions and speaks like a human. Cowen also founded The Hume Initiative, a non-profit that develops ethical guidelines for AI and advocates for its optimization for our well-being.

「次世代の優れた工学部は、協働によって社会的意義を高める」という理念のもと、数多くの学際的な学部横断型研究センターを設立。これらのセンターは、ウェアラブルセンサー、持続可能な電力・エネルギー、マイクロバイオーム・イノベーション、コンテクスチュアル・ロボティクス、材料発見と設計、グローバル・アントレプレナーシップといった分野を対象とする。これらの研究拠点からは、多くのスタートアップ企業が生まれ、健康・エネルギー・持続可能性など社会的課題の解決に取り組む。
以前は、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校の教員として30年間勤め、メカニカルシステムのFANUC講座教授を務めるとともに、バークレー・センサー＆アクチュエータセンターの共同ディレクターを務めた。1983年以来、博士課程学生40名以上、修士課程学生75名以上を指導・卒業させている。1997年から1999年にかけて、米国国防高等研究計画局（DARPA）のMEMS（微小電気機械システム）プログラムのプログラムマネージャーを歴任。MEMS分野で36件以上の特許を共同発明者として保有しており、400本以上の学術論文を共同執筆した。
コロンビア大学で機械工学を専攻し、学士号（1976年）、修士号（1977年、1980年）、博士号（1981年）を取得。学界に入る以前には、ゼロックス・パロアルト研究所、シンガーミシン社R&Dセンター、ゼネラルモーターズ研究所で研究職を経験。

Albert P. Pisano is Dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering at University of California San Diego and Special Adviser to the Chancellor for Campus Strategic Initiatives. At UC San Diego, he has held the Walter J. Zable Chair since he joined the campus as engineering dean in 2013. Under the vision that the great engineering schools of the next decade will collaborate their way to relevance, Pisano has initiated numerous cross-departmental interdisciplinary centers of excellence in the areas such as wearable sensors, sustainable power and energy, microbiome innovation, contextual robotics, materials discovery and design, and global entrepreneurs. These centers of excellence have created a multitude of startup companies to solve health, energy, sustainability and other societal problems. Previously, Pisano served on the UC Berkeley faculty for 30 years where he held the FANUC Chair of Mechanical Systems and was co-director of the Berkeley Sensor & Actuator Center. Since 1983, Pisano has graduated over 40 Ph.D. and 75 M.S. students. From 1997 to 1999, Pisano was a program manager for the Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Program at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He is a co-inventor listed on more than 36 patents in MEMS and has co-authored more than 400 archival publications. Pisano earned his undergraduate (’76) and graduate degrees (’77, ’80, ’81) in mechanical engineering at Columbia University. Prior to joining the academia, he held research positions with Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, Singer Sewing Machines Corporate R&D Center and General Motors Research Labs. Pisano is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Inventors, and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He received the highest honor of the IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu: the IEEE-HKN Asad M. Madni Outstanding Technical Achievement and Excellence Award in 2022.

Amanda is a Partner at Kurma Partners, a venture capital firm based in Paris and Munich. Focussed on biotech, Amanda invests in early-stage companies as well as company creation. Prior to Kurma, Amanda was investor with the Roche Venture Fund and Seventure Partners. Earlier as Roche Global Business Development Director and Strategy Director Emerging Technologies, she focussed on external innovation (biotech and academia). Amanda began her career in academic research, as a postdoctoral fellow in Switzerland (ISREC, Lausanne; IRB, Bellinzona), a PhD in Immunology and BMedSci (honours) from University of Sydney. Amanda also holds an MBA from IE Business School.

Andrea Choe is co-founder and CEO of Holoclara, the first company developing safe, orally available therapeutics inspired by symbiotic organisms that have co-evolved with humans for millions of years. These organisms survive by tuning human immune function, metabolism, and tissue repair. While earning her doctorate at Caltech, Choe discovered a unique pheromone language in roundworms and identified molecules that blocked disease in animal models of allergy and autoimmunity. Her work has advanced evolutionary and extreme biology, forming the foundation of Holoclara’s mission to pioneer a new class of therapies for chronic disease. She is an Emerging Women Founders in Biotech Award winner.

Ayano joined CIC with a passion for building Japan’s biotech and healthcare startup ecosystem. She holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Tokyo and previously worked at MEXT, contributing to life science policy and designing AMED. In 2017, she joined MIT’s System Design and Management program, researching startup ecosystems in Japan and the U.S. Upon returning, she worked on science and innovation policy at the Cabinet Office and nuclear fusion R&D at MEXT. Since 2021, she has been leading programs at CIC Japan that support biotech and medtech startups and their expansion into the U.S. market.

James has been investing at DCVC since 2013, shortly after the firm raised its first insti­tu­tional fund. He is interested in tech­nolo­gies that better char­ac­terize, model, or manipulate biological systems; robotics and automation; and companies applying artificial intel­li­gence to vertical problems. James has also invested in frontier tech­nolo­gies such as quantum computing and maintains an open mind to hearing about trans­for­ma­tive tech­nolo­gies that may not cleanly fit into an investment thesis. Prior to investing, James worked on data-driven sales and marketing strategy for large life-science and healthcare companies. His profes­sional experience spans large-scale data analysis in healthcare, new materials R&D, and semi­con­ductor processing. James received a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Based in London, James is an experienced venture capital investor investing in life sciences and medical technologies from Seed to Series A stages and beyond. He brings over 15 years of direct investment and portfolio management experience of spinouts, startups, scaleups across the UK, Europe and the US, collaborating with senior executives and board members to achieve financial and strategic objectives. James currently serves as Senior Portfolio Manager at Foresight Group, where he leads the investment and portfolio management of life sciences and medical technologies companies across stages of product development to commercial growth with support from Foresight’s venture capital funds alongside other UK and international investors. In this role he represents Foresight on the board of portfolio companies FundamentalXR, LIfT Biosciences, Qkine, The Electrospinning Company, TidalSense and Tozaro. Prior to Foresight, James was Investment Principal at Oxford Science Enterprises and Head of Corporate Advisory at Mercia Asset Management. He started his career at Cambridge Consultants and holds an MPhil in Computational Biology from the University of Cambridge, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.

Jean is the President and Managing Partner at Jolt Capital. He has driven Jolt’s vision and led its development since 2012. The impetus behind the founding of Jolt was Jean’s realization that there is a significant pool of technology companies which passed their technology risks stage, hardware or software, and are starting to scale worldwide.
Prior to founding Jolt Capital, Jean was Managing Partner at Sofinnova Partners, running the IT practice with a focus on telecom and wireless markets. Preceding his career as an investor, Jean was the CEO and founder of 4 companies with successful exits, including SLP InfoWare, which he sold to Gemplus (now Gemalto, XPAR:GTO) in 2000 for $60m and then became VP Telecom Solutions & Applications for the larger group.
Jean graduated from Telecom ParisTech and has a post-graduate degree in Artificial Intelligence. He is a regular lecturer at Telecom ParisTech and Mines ParisTech, a mentor at HEC CDL, and a speaker at multiple international conferences on Private Equity, AI and Technology.
Jean is also the Chairman of the Baroque Orchestra La Chapelle Harmonique (led by the internationally acclaimed conductor Valentin Tournet), an independant board member of Tech Premium (a French-led Caisse des Dépôts SICAV promoting technology IPOs), a former Chairman of the International Venture Club, and a former Chairman of the e-learning trade union CHANED.
Jean is currently a board member of BioSerenity (FR), NIL Technology (DK) and Virta (FI) representing Jolt Capital. Previously, Jean was a board member of Esmertec/Myriad (SIX:MYRN), Authentec (NASDAQ:AUTH) before its acquisition by Apple in 2012 for $356m, Heptagon before its acquisition by AMS (SIX:AMS) in 2016 for close to $1b, FOGALE Sensation before its sale to a consumer electronics giant, Skill & You before its sale to Andera Partners and Verimatrix (EURONEXT:VMX) sold to One Equity Partner, where he stays as an independent board member.

NVIDIA is now driving the platform shift of accelerated computing and generative AI, transforming the world's largest industries and profoundly impacting society.

Huang has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering and is a recipient of the Semiconductor Industry Association’s highest honor, the Robert N. Johannes Fruehauf MD, PhD is a physician-scientist and life-science entrepreneur. He is the Founder and CEO of BioLabs and Founder and Executive Chairman of LabCentral, the leading international network for co-working laboratory spaces for life-science startup companies. Together, BioLabs/LabCentral have helped launch over 850 primarily venture funded startup companies in the life sciences in 17 different cities with a presence in the United States, Germany, France and Japan. The concept of these facilities is built around openness, transparency and shared resources and has changed the way biotech companies are built around the world. Companies launched at BioLabs/LabCentral have raised over $30bn while in residence since 2010. LabCentral and BioLabs were also the recipient of the prestigious Prix Galien Award in 2022 for the best biotech startup launchpads in the “Incubators, Accelerators and Equity” category. Dr. Fruehauf is also a Founding General Partner at Mission BioCapital, an early-stage venture capital fund providing capital to start-up companies in the life sciences. MBC collaborates closely with lab partners to offer support/expertise and opportunities for funding to both resident companies in the lab network including BioLabs, LabCentral and MBC BioLabs in San Francisco and additional high-quality start-ups. Dr. Fruehauf studied medicine in Germany and France, while also conducting field work in Africa (Zimbabwe and Guinea). Thereafter, he practiced medicine (internal medicine and OB/Gyn) for several years in Germany before coming to Boston for a post-doc at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School. He is a graduate of the University of Frankfurt and received his doctorate from the University of Heidelberg. Originally from Hawaii, John studied in the UK, and is a graduate of Cornell University. He now lives in Singapore with his wife and children.

A graduate of Kobe College, she served as interpreter to the Governor of Osaka before founding the online database company M.A.I.D Japan in 1994. In 1998, she co-founded the AI marketing company Silver Egg Technology with Thomas Foley and took the company public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers (now Growth) in 2016. In 2010, she bought back her family’s yakiniku restaurant chain “Daidomon,” which had been transferred to a fund through civil rehabilitation proceedings, and became President. In March 2025, she helped launch the Generative AI Solutions Consortium as a founding member. Karan Mohla is a General Partner at B Capital focused on South and Southeast Asia. Karan has over two decades of global experience across technology and investments. Before joining B Capital, Karan was a Partner at Chiratae Ventures (formerly IDG Ventures India), where he invested in leading companies, including FirstCry, Xpressbees and CropIn. Mr. Jingo Kikukawa, Director-General, has led the Innovation and Environment Policy Bureau and Startup Policy at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) since July 2024. Prior to his current position, he devoted himself to policymaking regarding global warming issues, trade negotiations (WTO, TPP), SME finance and tax systems, and economic national security (5G, Semiconductors, AI, DX) at the Government of Japan, especially at METI, for over 30 years. Luca is a Partner at Atomico based in London and joined the firm in 2018. He focuses on Atomico’s growth stage investing, with a particular focus on the b2b software space. He sits on the boards of, or is involved with, Atomico investments into Aiven, Attentive, CADDi, ChannelEngine, Factorial, Bird (formerly MessageBird), Raycast, Scoutbee and TestGorilla, amongst others. Masayo Takahashi is an ophthalmologist who completed her doctoral program (Visual Pathology) at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University. She served as the leader of the Laboratory for Retinal Regeneration, RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research from 2006 to 2022, conducting groundbreaking clinical research using the world’s first induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells in 2014. In 2017, she collaborated with the city of Kobe to establish the “Kobe Eye Center.” After leaving RIKEN in 2019, she became the CEO of Vision Care Inc. and subsequently founded two subsidiary companies dedicated to gene therapy development and cell therapy research.

In 1992, he was appointed as professor of immunology and cell biology at Kyoto University’s Faculty of Medicine, where he served as dean from 2010–14. Narayan Gurjar is the Founder and CEO of EF Polymer, a deep-tech startup pioneering circular, nature-based solutions for agriculture and beyond. Raised in a farming village in Rajasthan, India, Narayan experienced firsthand the challenges of water scarcity and soil degradation—issues that threaten millions of smallholder farmers worldwide. This early exposure shaped his mission to create sustainable technologies that make agriculture more resilient and resource-efficient. While still a student, he began experimenting with agricultural waste and developed a biodegradable super absorbent polymer (SAP) made from discarded orange peels. The innovation helps farmers retain soil moisture, cut fertilizer use, and boost yields—without relying on petroleum-based materials. Since founding EF Polymer in 2020, Narayan has led its growth across four key regions—India, Japan, the US, and France. The company has sold over 400 tons of product, upcycled more than 4,000 tons of bio-waste, and raised $6.6 million in Series B funding in April 2025. Its bio-based SAP is now used not only in farming, but also in personal care, medical products, and cold chain solutions.

宇宙業界における有識者としても広く認知されており、国際宇宙航行連盟（IAF）名誉アンバサダー、The Space Generation Advisory Councilアドバイザリーボード、英国王立航空協会フェロー等、国内では衛星システム技術推進機構（ASTEC）理事、インパクトスタートアップ協会理事、人事院公務員研修所顧問、科学技術振興機構（JST）メンター等の職務を兼務。また、国連のさまざまな会議にも積極的に参加し、宇宙の持続可能性に関する世界的な議題の形成に貢献。過去にはIAFの副会長や、世界経済フォーラム（ダボス会議）の宇宙評議会共同議長も務めた。
東京大学農学部卒業後、大学卒業後大蔵省（現財務省）主計局に勤務。その後マッキンゼー・アンド・カンパニーにて経営コンサルティングに従事。またIT業界で10年以上、グローバル経営者としてアジア・太平洋の地域で活躍した。
1973年生まれ、兵庫県出身。米国パデュー大学クラナートMBA修了。

Nobu has led Astroscale to global prominence and a successful IPO in 2024. He is an Honorary Ambassador of the International Astronautical Federation and contributes to United Nations forums that shape space sustainability. Astroscale has received numerous accolades, including the IAF Excellence in Industry (SME), the Japanese Prime Minister’s Award, and recognition as one of TIME100’s Most Influential Companies. Nobu was previously an IT entrepreneur, strategy consultant, and served in the Japanese Ministry of Finance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from the Krannert School of Business, Purdue University.

Noriya Tarutani is the Deputy Director General at JETRO Innovation Department, overseeing the startup program. With over 20 years in startups and international business, he has helped 500+ Japanese companies expand globally. In San Francisco and Silicon Valley, he collaborated with Techstars and Berkeley SkyDeck to establish programs for PMF validation and fundraising. He also actively promoted J-Startup internationally, and helped them to go global. After returning to Japan, he connected global accelerators, VCs, and corporations to the Japanese ecosystem and led the establishment of Techstars Tokyo and Alchemist Japan. Since April 2023, he has overseen JETRO's startup program.

Olaf Witkowski is a pioneering leader in exploring the language of artificial minds. He’s the Founding Director of Cross Labs, an innovative AI research institute in Kyoto dedicated to diverse intelligences and compassionate technology. He’s the President of the International Society for Artificial Life (ISAL) and Board Director at Cross Compass. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Tokyo, is an alumnus member of Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study, and serves as external faculty at various universities in Japan. He has co-founded research ventures across three continents, including YHouse Inc. in New York, and the Center for the Study of Apparent Selves in Kathmandu, which explores Buddhist philosophy and AI ethics, and the newly established Artificial Life Institute in Kyoto.

Peter Marcotullio directs commercial sector business for SRI International. He directs market research, intellectual property management, business strategy development, ventures, and long-term partnerships with industry clients. Before joining SRI, he was a venture manager with Thermo Tech Ventures based in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he participated in the founding and financing of more than a dozen new companies. At Primex Technologies (acquired by General Dynamics) Mr. Marcotullio led R&D and planning for a $500 million defense and aerospace firm with a $20 annual R&D million annual budget. Marcotullio is an inventor on five patents and sits on several startup boards of directors. Mr. Marcotullio holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University with graduate and executive certificates from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Ravi Belani is the Managing Director of the Alchemist Accelerator, an enterprise seed accelerator funded by over 20 marquee backers including BASF, Cisco, DFJ, GE, Johnson Controls, NEC, Mitsubishi Estate, Khosla Ventures, and Salesforce. Ravi has been the first institutional investor in 4 unicorns (LaunchDarkly, Rigetti, Onebrief, Pubmatic), and the second institutional investor in one decacorn (Twitch). Ravi also is a Lecturer of Entrepreneurship at Stanford University, where he is a board advisor to Stanford's Entrepreneurship Center in the Engineering School, and co-chairs the Education & Curriculum Subcommittee.

Ravi formerly spent six years as part of the investment team at Draper Fisher Jurvetson's Menlo Park global headquarters.

Ravi formerly worked in product management at two Kleiner Perkins enterprise startups, and as a consultant in McKinsey and Company's San Francisco office. Rayfe Gaspar-Asaoka is a Partner in the Alliance Fund, focused on investing in early-stage companies in AI, space, cybersecurity, autonomy, and dual-use deep technologies. He was previously a partner at Canaan, where he led investments in AI, robotics, space, and enterprise software. Rayfe began his career as an electrical engineer at Raytheon, and a management consultant at Keystone Strategy. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and Stanford University, respectively, where his research focused on signal processing and chip design. He is also a Kauffman Fellow. Rayfe was originally born and raised in Hawaii, and is an active water sports athlete. He enjoys spending time outdoors and attempting to learn Japanese.

Renato joined National Research Council Canada in 2018, where he also worked as Senior Advisor for International Relations focusing on Japan, and headed the office of the VP in charge of the Industrial Research Assistance Program. Prior to that, Renato was in the Canadian Foreign Service, with foreign assignments as Counsellor at the Embassy in Norway, Consul in Nagoya, Investment Promotion Officer at the Embassy in Japan, and exchange officer in the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. In Canada, he also worked as Deputy Director of Innovation, Business Development Global Practice Lead, and Japan Bilateral Relations Officer. Before joining Government, Renato was in the Software Development industry, working with clients in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Sachin Bid is currently Fund Manager, Venture Capital at Nippon India Alternative Investments (NIAIF), a 100% subsidiary of Nippon Life India Asset Management (NAM India). Nippon Life Japan owns ~75% of NAM India. He started the venture capital strategy at NIAIF with a unique mandate of focusing on Indo Japan corridor. He is responsible for fund raising, investing and managing portfolio of India centric early-stage venture capital funds and growth stage start-ups. Prior to NIAIF, he co-founded, built and scaled a travel start-up focused on cruising, MyDreamHoliday, which was acquired by a market leader (Ark Travels) in 2019. Prior to that, he was an investor at Ncubate Capital, a mid-size family office participating in investing and incubation activities. On incubation, he was particularly involved in incubation and supporting scale-up activities for two consumer brands, Livpure and Livguard. Prior to Ncubate Capital, he was an investor at Nine Rivers Capital investing in its Fund-I investing in traditional growth stage stage, primarily in manufacturing and engineering businesses. Sadaharu Saiki(a.k.a. 1980年に大阪大学医学部を卒業。大阪大学大学院医学系研究科にて心臓血管外科および呼吸器外科（外科学講座）の教授兼主任を務めた後、現在の職務に就く。京都大学iPS細胞研究所の科学顧問、日本再生医療学会の会長、大阪大学大学院医学系研究科の名誉教授も務めている。
2021年には、社会医療法人警和会のもとで大阪警察病院の院長に就任。iPS細胞を用いた心筋再生療法のFirst in Human（世界初の臨床試験）を成功裏に実施。この研究成果を基に、iPS細胞由来の心臓パッチの開発および商業化を目的として、2017年3月にCUORiPS Inc.を設立（最高技術責任者：CTO）。

Graduated from Osaka University School of Medicine in 1980. After serving as the Professor and Chair of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Surgery (Department of Surgery) at the Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University, he currently holds his position. He is also a scientific advisor at the Kyoto University iPS Cell Research Institute, the chairman of the Japan Society for Regenerative Medicine, and an honorary professor at Osaka University's Graduate School of Medicine. In 2021, he was appointed as the director of Osaka Police Hospital under the Social Medical Corporation Keiwa-kai. He successfully conducted the First in Human for myocardial regeneration therapy using iPS cells. Based on research results, he established CUORiPS Inc. in March 2017 for the development and commercialization of iPS cell-derived cardiac sheets (CTO).

Following her graduation from Kyoto University, Ms. Takuko Sawada joined Shionogi & Co., Ltd. in 1977. Since then, she has served for over 30 years, leading a number of pharmaceutical development projects and corporate strategy planning. Initially established as a consulting firm, D3 LLC transitioned into venture capital, launching its first fund in 2020 and currently managing its second fund. Before founding D3 LLC, Tomoya was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in growth strategy, new business development, and innovation. Subsequently, he led venture investments at FIL Capital Management (HK) Ltd., Fidelity’s global investment arm. In addition to his leadership role at D3 LLC, Tomoya actively contributes to academia and professional development through lectures at various universities. 略歴
1972年3月 京都大学大学院工学研究科 石油化学専攻 修士課程修了。 同年4月　 旭化成株式会社入社、1981年から新型二次電池の開発に着手し、現在のリチウムイオン電池を世界に先駆けて発明した。このリチウムイオン電池の発明は現在のMobile-IT社会の実現に大きな貢献をし、さらに電気自動車への応用が進んできており、地球環境問題の解決に貢献を始めている。 この業績に対し国内、国外の団体から多くの賞を受賞し、2019年にノーベル化学賞を受賞。
■ Biography
March 1972: Completed Master's Program, Department of Petroleum Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University. April 1972: Joined Asahi Kasei Corporation. Commenced development of a new type of secondary battery in 1981, pioneering the invention of the current lithium-ion battery. This invention significantly contributed to the realization of today's Mobile-IT society. Furthermore, its application in electric vehicles is advancing, beginning to contribute to solving global environmental issues. For this achievement, received numerous awards from domestic and international organizations and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2019.
